Chiesa di San Giorgio Martire

The parish church of S. Giorgio is located on the main street of the village, at the junction for Jalmicco. The current building, dating back to the first half of the 18th century, features several Baroque style elements, quite sober, both inside and outside. Its origin is instead older: although the historical events regarding its foundation are not known to us, the dedication of the church to the warrior Saint confirms both the hypothesis about the antiquity of the original place of worship and the importance of the geographical location of the site.

From an architectural point of view, the facade is dominated by the bell tower which, interrupting the pediment, continues rising in correspondence with the entrance portal; the intervention was certainly carried out on the occasion of the enlargement of the pre-existing cult building and the consequent construction of the bell tower in the 18th century (mid-18th century). The bell chamber with bifora is surmounted by a copper dome which, in type and workmanship, still recalls 19th-century canons. The masonry of the entire complex is plastered stone; the roof is made with a wooden structure and covered with tiles.
