San Pietro e Biagio in Brossana
The church, of fairly small dimensions, currently has its forms dating back to the 15th century, but it was rebuilt over a previous 13th-century church and on two chapels that had been damaged by floods, particularly the one documented on August 27, 1468.
The facade was frescoed between 1506 and 1508, although the author, whose name is unknown, belonged to the Tolmezzo school, and is referred to as Zanne de Toscanys and Pauli Impintor. The entrance portal, which bears the date 1492, was made in the flamboyant Gothic style and is the work of Biagio de' Meritis and Antonio de Locria.
The frescoes on the facade were restored in 2013 to improve their legibility, which had been compromised over time. These paintings depict Saint Christopher, Saint George slaying the dragon, Saints Peter and Blaise (to whom the oratory is dedicated), and Saint Nicholas along with another saint bishop. The interior of the church has a single nave with a truss roof; along the walls, remnants of frescoes dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries can still be seen.
In the presbytery, there is an altarpiece with Saint Blaise on the throne, painted by the Cividale painter Pietro Miani in 1507. The predella, on the other hand, was painted by Secante Secanti at the beginning of the 17th century and shows scenes of the saint's martyrdom. In the lunette, there is an Annunciation by Marco Vecellio, dated 1604.
To the right, in the side chapel dedicated to Saint Blaise, there are frescoes that tell the stories of the saint's life. In this same chapel, there is also a fresco with Saint Blaise on the throne and, along the base, a representation of the Months of the year, although very deteriorated.
